5th sem ended...

Yay! 5th sem ended~~!!! ^.^
Happy because finally escape from all those assignments!
Sad... because my study mood is not on yet...
How... what should I do to activate my engine...
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Anyway, put that aside temporarily!
My Accounting coursemates and I have gathered for a pre-Christmas party at Tanjung Bungah, eating barbeque! :D
Our barbeque site~~ :D
Digging the sand to build the fire pit~
Finally, fire!!! We have 3 pits altogether~ :)
Our food~~ There are chickens and fishes too.
Our food preparation team~
After cooked, straight away go into our mouth~~
Another bbq pit~
Just call "HONEY~~", then this guy will come to... not us... to the chicken wings~~ Haha!
Me, taking some bihun~~ :D
My lovely coursemate~ A bubbly girl~ Cute right? :D
Notice the background, a pair of couple was taking their wedding photographs! ^.^ They have candles surrounding the bride, but the wind was very strong, hard to keep the candles lit.

After eating, it's time to exchange Christmas presents!! ^.^

Our special ways of matching the presents! Everyone holds a string, then the first person will pick a string randomly from the center person's hand, then both of them pick a present from the pile for each other.

Our guitarist~~ :D
Although he does not know many songs, but it's fun singing a few songs like 浪花一朵朵 and 对面的女孩看过来~~

December babies~~ ^.^ The chocolate cake is really delicious!!! Bought from Bread History!
We wanted to put 孔明灯, but because the wind is too strong, failed... The lantern burned up! :O
Luckily it did not hurt anyone. Hope everyone's wish will come true!!! ^.^
My wish --

Why did I make that wish? Because that night, I suddenly felt that everyone is actually shining brightly! Everyone is so special on their own and plays their own part in their daily life! For example, someone was going around collecting rubbish; another person was going around providing tissue or honey; then someone was the coordinator; many were focusing very hard on barbeque-ing the food; someone was helping to "force" people to finish the food (LOL XP); two people were taking turns to be the photographer (they did their part well, capturing epic moments of that night, really thanks to them!); many people were willing to provide transport, and many many more!!!!!!

A great event which owes its success to all these people! A really perfect and blissful night as an ending to our 5th semester!!! LOVE ALL OF THEM!!! <3 <3 <3

DeeJay wishes all of my coursemates:
*** Eat healthy, Stay healthy!!! ***
*** All the best in final exams and internship!!! ***

Procrastination...

This semester I am really addicted to procrastination, always doing unneccessary or unimportant or not the priority things and really avoiding things that I am supposed to do; last few semesters I was better, managed to use my time well, completed my assignments earlier and had time to proofread, and had a more balanced life -- enough sleep and exercise.

Procrastination may be fun in the beginning, but it pays off soon... This semester, it's the first time I really experience how hard it is to rush to meet assignments deadline. Really handed in assignments at the last minute!!! Luckily I have friends who have transport, if not, I will surely be late already.

Finally getting to experience the consequences, I MUST NOT repeat this ever again!!!!

Hope I revert to my old self! Go go go!!!
And finally enjoy the benefit!!!

DeeJay!!! You, must be more self-disciplined!!!!

(Yan Keng Benevolent Dramatic Association)

(Kwong Fook Wing Tailor)

(Lee Lam Thye Market)

10。Gurdwara Sahib Polis

12。Sri Mahamariamman Temple

“Hentikan rampasan tanah adat”
“All the best to Lok Ann!”

(KL Gospel Hall)

The thing about Mission Statement~~

Mission statements of an organisation... Is it really that effective? Should it be top-down or bottom-up?

Today during English class, we listened to a recording about how to become a good manager. The first thing it said was, "Throw out your mission statement!" Why? Because mission statements are fixed by top management and employees may not feel connected with the company as they are not involved in drafting the mission statements. Besides that, if you analyse the purpose of mission statement skeptically, actually mission statement is for promotional use only! The company set up a mission statement to present itself well in front of bankers, investors, potential employees, clients, etc. Inside the company, it is seldom used.

Well, in my opinion, I do agree that in certain extent, mission statement is "for display" only... But mission statement also plays its part in sometimes. When I am searching for internship, I will look at the company's mission statements to get a glimpse of what the company is about. Even though I know that it may not portray the REAL culture of that company, but at least it will provide a basic introduction about that company.

Besides that, by displaying mission statement to the public, this will help company to attract employees who are in sync with the company's objectives. It can help to pool talents and also reduce employee turnover rate.

Employees in general do not have any concrete perception about a company. It all goes back to the top management, who understands the best about the company and the direction it is heading, to line out the mission statements so that all employees have the same goal to pursue. If management wants to include employee's role in strategic planning of the company, maybe the management can ask for suggestions or feedback from employees after the employees are clear about the mission statement and have been working towards reaching the set goal for quite some time.

But for other things aside from mission statements, maybe bottom-up is more appropriate. For example, the bus issue of USM. USM administration changed the bus route without consulting the students. They are like the hawk's eye, sitting at the top and managing things, but they are not the people using the bus, students are! As predicted, the new bus route received lots of complaints from students. In the end, the admin has to revert back to the old bus route.

DeeJay should be studying for tomorrow's test, but...
Really can't find the motivation to kick-start my studying mood...
Seems to be distracted easily by the internet...... :(

11/10 International Day of the Girl Child

Yay! Today is "International Day of the Girl Child" declared by the United Nations!
http://www.un.org/en/events/girlchild/

This year's theme is, "Innovating for Girls’ Education."

There are many activities done, such as the "Techno Girl" programme which teaches skills to African young girls. There are still many countries where the education of girls are not given attention to. Hopefully through these efforts, it will help to raise public's awareness about girls' education rights.

DeeJay hopes to join actively in an NGO

无 a 找 o e

I really should use my blog more! I have lots of thoughts that I wish to pour out, and this blog is a very good place, because not many people know about this blog. Besides, the space is larger than my diary book, can write more things. However... I feel really lazy to log in... X(

********************************************
Next semester is my internship already. I think ALL of my course mates have already secured placing in some companies, but... I HAVEN'T EVEN APPLY!!!! Oh no!!!! I think I should start to panic already...

DeeJay rolling out ~ ~ ~

# Recent updates #

I should maintain the habit of updating my blog... Actually, a lot of things happened this semester, and all of the events have brought new realisation in my mind. But because of my procrastination to write down in this blog, I have forgotten a lot about the things that I had wanted to write... @.@
Anyway, I will try to write as much as I can remember. I really think keeping a record of what I have gone through in my life is very important, because I can look back into my past in the future, and who knows, I might learn a thing or two from the past me. :) Besides, writing blog trains me to be more spontaneous in converting thoughts into words. This is very useful in exam, in order to save time!

Thus, flashing back ~ ~ ~

***********************************************************
Continuing from the last post, I continue to be a committee of the society, but I do not hold any specific position anymore. I am just a normal AJK. Although I am still allocated some jobs, but I feel more free in this position, as I am not tied down to a specific job that I must do, such as secretarial or treasurer duties. Besides, during the 2nd semester of my third year, I will have internship. If I really feel tired of my position, I can choose to intern at another state, thus escaping from everything; If I still have the passion to help the committees in dividing the jobs, I can choose to intern in Penang. Oopps! I'm so bad! XD

***********************************************************
Next is mid-sem break. I went back to Alor Setar, not Kuala Lumpur. I helped my cousin sister to do her accounts for reporting to the IRB. I did everything according to what I have learnt, but not sure whether I have left out anything. But she only owns a small shop, I doubt that the government officer will come to spot check her company. XD

***********************************************************
Then comes a big conflict of mine... I have paid RM150 altogether to AIESEC for the exchange programme, but mummy is concerned about me... She still cannot let go of me to go to another country by myself for about two months. Besides, it is hard to find a project that I really like. I found one after searching for a long time, but the place is in China, where H7N9 is now the big issue. Although China is very big and the location of the project is far from the outbreak cities, but still... I was told, "Prevention is better than cure"... So, I have to let go of this project... Last time, I was really passionate in pursuing my dream of backpack travelling by myself, but now, I am not so sure anymore. As days pass by, my desire disappears bit by bit...
Or is it because I have expressed out my desire? I realised that whenever I have expressed something personal, the opposite will happen. For example, when I said that I am very lucky because mosquitoes will not bite me, it happens instead. (For this, I have done experiments to test it, and it is very true. When I remained silent when my friends complained that there were a lot of mosquitoes, I was not bitten at all.) When I said that I want something very much, later I will realise that my desire has weakened. When I tell my friends what type of person I am, not long later I will realise that I also have another side of the type. Maybe I should keep the things that I want to see continue to happen to myself...

***********************************************************
Following this is the hotly-discussed event of the whole Malaysia -- GE 13! This is the first general election that I started to be aware and concerned about.

I support the Oppositions. I hoped that this time is really "Ini Kalilah". I loved the mascots of the Opposition Parties very much!
This general election let me see and experience many things. This is the first time I went to a political speech. It was at Han Chiang. I knocked my head on a billboard when walking to the venue. @.@ I see how a huge field turned from quite empty to very full. I was laughing even though being squeezed even tighter than sardines in a tin when trying to exit the main entrance. I got a plastic hand fan with the three birds on it. ^.^ I felt for the first time that watching the announcement of results is like watching football, and the feeling is even more tense than waiting for the results of final exam.
This general election has made me realised that not everything on Facebook is trustworthy. We must really find out the source and verify its credibility before sharing it out. Even though it may be a message that is beneficial to the party that you are supporting, but we must all have a skeptical, objective, and independent mind to analyse the matter before believing it. Facebook can be a dangerous "weapon"!!! Messages spread too fast in it, and people do not care to verify whether the message is true before spreading them.
Well, the Opposition did not manage to become the central government, but the percentage of Opposition in the Parliament has definitely increase. This is a good sign as both BN and Oppositions have about equal number of representatives in the Parliament. Hope there will be more beneficial policies in the next five years!

***********************************************************
To end this post, I would like to share the most recent, most enjoyable and happiest event to me (for this sem, I think)! ;D

We went to Batu Feringghi for a one-night stay. Actually before this event, I did not have any expectation or any feelings of looking forward towards this event. I was not even involved in the planning of this event... But! The moment when I reached the bus stop to gather, the feelings came!!! The atmosphere was really comfortable! Even though I have not really interact with the group since our first 考察团 at Georgetown, but I instantly felt very comfortable and can talk with them like there is no barrier! After nearly two hours of journey by RapidPenang bus, we reached Bayu Emas apartment. 文化坊 went strolling at the beach while 编辑族 had their 传承。Each group stayed at different units. 文化坊 was at the fifth floor, while 编辑族 was at ninth floor! Then, 文化坊 started to prepare materials for steamboat.
Steamboat was really filling!!! There were some food left. They bought too much 金针菇. I believe that since that time, everyone will have phobia towards 金针菇 for a while. XD Then, we played some games together. There were games such as singing and "Running Man"-type of games. Maybe I was tired, so did not really enjoy the games, or maybe it was because the games were copied from Running Man, making me felt that they were not creative. But I know that I should really appreciate their effort in preparing the games. Moreover, the games are considered new innovations if compared to the usual 理华 games. One game that we enjoyed was the game of having two people biting a chocolate stick from both ends until there was a small piece left in the middle. It was a very awkward moment for the two people at the center. XD
At 12am midnight, 文化坊 小瓜 brought us 中瓜 to the beach. We had a candlelight 分享会。:D It was a warm moment. Everyone did not cry. :) The conclusion that we made from that night was: 文化坊 will not follow other 小组 to stress on the feeling of a family, but we definitely have the feeling of a group of F.R.I.E.N.D.S! :DDD It is at that moment that I really, really realised and felt the difference between 小组 and 执委会。After one year of being in 执委会,when going back to 小组, the feeling is really different. In 执委会,everyone meets to discuss about official matters only. Maybe this is the problem of lack of 联谊。In 12/13 文化坊, I also did not feel the bond with Silicon and Soon Loong. (Ah Ben no need to include, he seldom participate in 文化坊 one...) 联谊 is really an important part of an organisation! But 13/14 文化坊 batch, I can feel their bond! :) When I attend their meeting, I will feel unwilling to leave the meeting early~~ XD Good luck to them!!! :)
Then the next morning, 文化坊 went to 编辑族 unit for breakfast. 编辑族 boys are really great! They were the ones preparing the breakfast. It was a really healthy and 丰富 breakfast! We can make our own style of sandwich with eggs, mayonnaise, cooked beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, and sausages!!
After that is 文化坊 传承 at our own unit and then we started to pack our things. We took 全体照 before leaving, hoping to preserve all the precious and happy memories in the pictures.

That is all from DJ. See ya later~~~
